Our office is the Mississippi location of the Memphis Firm of Apperson Crump PLC. We primarily handle residential and commercial real estate closings and other commercial transactions. W are licensed in both Mississippi and Tennessee and handle transactions throughout both states. Our primary attorney, Kelly Hagan Smith, is originally from Tate and DeSoto counties and has practiced locally since 1998, the entire time handling these types of matters.

Our office prides itself on NOT being a “big-box” closing operation, such that we are able to have an attorney involved in most aspects of every file and provide more attention to each matter, whereas many of our competitors handle too many files to have even one attorney involved in each file.

We accept the Hyatt/Metlife legal plans and offer large discount off of our Closing/settlement fee for EMS, Fire, Police and teachers.

Q What is the cost of your closing services?

For a residential transaction, we collect the expenses for wires, courier and shipping, title work, recording, transfer and/or mortgage tax (for TN matters), a closing protection letter (if required of your lender), the charge for electronically recording title documents (where appropriate) and premiums for policies of title insurance. The fee we charge for our services is typically range anywhere from $400 - $700 depending on the type of transaction. Commercial transactions vary based on type of transaction, liability exposure, and time for the drafting/review/negotiation of documents and are typically based more on an hourly rate.

Q I am buying/selling without a real estate agent. Can your office assist me with the contract?

Our office gladly provides blank contracts and/or will assist in drafting the contract. If we are handling the closing of the transaction, we offer these services at a discounted rate.
