After more than 30 years of practice in the District of Columbia, I have established an office in Arlington, Virginia.
While practicing in the District, I spent almost 18 years with the federal government as an enforcement attorney with the Office of Thrift Supervision. I was one of a handful of OTS attorneys handling high-profile cases against attorneys and accountants involved in the savings-and-loan crisis of the 1980’s and 1990’s. Later I worked on other notable cases, such as the 2001 failure of Superior Bank in Chicago, Illinois. All told, the federal government recovered more than $1.2 billion in restitution from the cases I worked on while at OTS.
The remainder of my career was spent in private practice, first as an associate at a large District of Columbia law firm, and (after my retirement from federal service in 2008) as a partner in a small firm that represented 401(k) plan participants in prosecuting claims against the sponsors of their retirement plans.
A little over a year ago, I decided to strike out on my own, and open a practice in Arlington, where I have lived since I first came to the Washington metropolitan area to attend law school in 1978. Now that I have opened my new office I am available to represent clients in federal and state courts in both Virginia and the District of Columbia, as well as before federal and state administrative agencies.
My practice is focused primarily on business litigation (financial services, contracts, securities, ERISA, and accounting issues) and defense of banking agency investigations and enforcement proceedings. I also represent parties in employment litigation
